2008 ‘MILLENNIUM TOURNAMENT’

Despite the awful summer and rain on the day, the tournament held on September 7^th was a great success. The courts were full and it was particularly pleasing to see so many young players turn up and play. We started at 1pm playing 5 games with different partners, and a total of 25 games in all. It soon became apparent that Sharon Williams and Joe Walsh were playing very well, and despite the best efforts of us all we could not prevent them from winning the lady’s and men’s titles. Play was followed by tea with excellent scones and cream. The many youngsters made the day memorable, and we all hope that those who played, will continue to be coached, and continue with their tennis development. Ruth showed us, that advancing years is no barrier to having an enjoyable afternoon and the younger players can learn a lot from her dedication.
